Are you ready to learn more about public banking and how it can help Arizona businesses and people thrive? If so, you’re in luck.
This winter, Arizonans for a New Economy (ANE) has two free public events planned: the Dec. 8 Sustainable Tucson Meeting in downtown Tucson and the Jan. 8 meeting at the Mountain Vista Unitarian Universalist Church in Northwest Tucson.
At both events, ANE co-directors Jim Hannley and Pamela Powers Hannley will review the Top 10 Ways Public Banking Can Boost Arizona’s Economy, as well as offering an update on public banking efforts nationwide and a discussion on next steps and volunteer opportunities.
At the Dec. 8 meeting, Sylvia Amparano, Finance Director for the City of Tucson, also will discuss the city’s Community Banking Project, a quasi-public banking experiment started by the city in August 2013. Elected officials from the City of Tucson and the Arizona Legislature have been invited to attend and comment.
